The Pop Cult EX-perience
A tale as old as time itself. The classic story of boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy and girl start a pop culture podcast together 20 some odd years later.
Welcome to the Pop Cult Ex-perience brought to you by Karen Giffin and Tyler Smith. Two former flames, once inseparable, now find themselves separated by 6000 miles and a couple of decades. Still friends, with a similar love for all things pop culture and a similar want to share our love of these things with y'all. We talk movies, TV, gaming, comics, books, music and any other manner of things that we fancy. Join us for our weekly podcasts to hear about news, musings, commentary, reviews and upcoming fun things in the world of entertainment. News, Reviews and Mulligans
Welcome to the new week everyone! In News & Previews this week we chat about changes in DC Universe, the ongoing conflict between Ray Fisher and Warner Bros, and share a fun Marvel cast announcement. We express some hopes for TIFF and the Emmys and share a couple of new streaming suggestions too. Also tied into TIFF was our Retro Rewind review of Almost Famous, as it premiered at TIFF 20 years ago. After a number of less-than-stellar streaming movie reviews, we were pleasantly surprised by both #Alive and I’m Thinking of Ending Things, but listen to the ‘cast for our full spoiler-free rundown.
The main feature of the week though is our interview with award-winning Canadian screenwriter Jennifer Mulligan. She shares her experiences, tells some fun stories, talks TIFF, and dishes on a whole bunch of resources that are available for Ottawa locals who want to get into filmmaking.
Give it, us, and her a listen!
